You have decided that you want to wear a kilt for your wedding, but don’t know the next steps to take. Here at Best Man, we have something that may help the process that bit easier and get the ball rolling.
There are so many different companies across the country that provide kilts and the services that come with them. One of the most noted kilt hire companies in the country which has been appointed by the Royals, are Edinburgh based Kinloch Anderson.
They suggest that for a formal occasion such as a wedding, the Prince Charlie Kilt Jacket should be worn with the chosen kilt. Their regular full hire price is £130 for a four-day hire. However, should you just require individual items, these will be priced separately in addition to choosing an extended hire period.
They also offer individual items for hire, so if you just need the kilt, kilt jacket, sporran or any of the other items to complete the outfit, they can be hired just for the wedding.
Made to measure kilts
If you would like something truly special for the big day you can have a made to measure kilt. There are so many different tartans out there and it can be difficult to choose the right one. Kinloch Anderson says, “The clan tartan associated with your name and Scottish family heritage, or the district tartan for the Scottish district or region with which you have an association.”
Don’t worry if you do not have a clan or district tartan, you can still wear tartan as there are four universal tartans.
• The Black Watch
• The Hunting Stewart
• The Caledonia
• The Jacobite
Recently non-denominational tartans such as Scotland’s National, The Spirit of Scotland, and The Flower of Scotland have been designed and can be worn for kilt hire purposes, in addition to the universal tartans.
It is safe to say when going kilt shopping, time and research needs to be put in to create the most authentic look.
